How to Make the Keeper of Little Things Junk Journal | Step-by-Step Tutorial
The Keeper of Little Things Junk Journal is a nature-inspired printable journal designed for collecting memories, observations, little treasures, and the everyday things worth remembering.
In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you how I assemble the Keeper of Little Things kit, including its interactive pages, pockets, booklets, fold-outs, collection pieces, and journaling elements.
You can follow along exactly as I make mine or use the ideas as inspiration to create a journal that is completely your own.

The Keeper of Little Things is a printable junk journal kit filled with interactive pieces designed for collecting memories, nature finds, observations, photographs, notes, and all those little things worth keeping.
Print the kit at home, follow along with the tutorial above, and make it completely your own.
What’s Included in the Keeper of Little Things Kit
Keeper of Little Things is more than a collection of printable journal pages. The kit includes interactive pieces that you can cut, fold, layer, tuck, open, and use to create your own nature-inspired keepsake journal.
Inside the kit you’ll find pieces for creating interactive pockets and fold-outs, little booklets for writing and sketching, nature observation pages, collection and memory-keeping elements, journaling spaces, decorative papers, and coordinating pieces to bring the journal together.
There’s no single “right” way to assemble it. The tutorial shows you how I created mine, but you can rearrange the pieces, add your own photographs and keepsakes, include extra papers, or use individual elements in other junk journal projects.
Supplies I Use for Junk Journaling
You don’t need a lot of special supplies to make the Keeper of Little Things journal. Below are some of the tools and materials I use for my own junk journal projects and in my tutorials.

Paper Cardstock
Heavy enough for better color ink absorption.
Paper Trimmer
More control over cuts than the bigger ones.
Detail Scissors
Good for cutting around the smaller journal pieces and ephemera.
Craft Knife
For cutting those precision cuts.
Cutting Mat
Must have for over your table. (I have a glass table top)
Glue / Adhesive
I use Tacky glue for all my crafts. Tip: A dab of hot glue will hold it until the glue dries.
Double-Sided Tape
Some people prefer this over glue.
Bookbinding kit
This kit has everything you need plus a little more and is a very good price.
Printer
The absolute best I’ve had and use.
Making Your Keeper of Little Things Journal
One of my favorite things about junk journaling is that no two finished journals have to look exactly alike. Keeper of Little Things was designed with that in mind.
In the video tutorial above, I show you how I assembled my journal and how the different interactive pieces work together. You can follow my version step by step, or change things as you go.
Try adding photographs, handwritten notes, pressed flowers or leaves, ticket stubs, little drawings, favorite quotes, nature finds, and other small paper keepsakes that have meaning to you.
You can also add extra pages from your own paper collection, move pockets and tuck spots to different locations, or leave spaces empty until you find something special to put there.
The goal isn’t to make your journal look exactly like mine. It’s to create a little home for the things you want to remember.
